Several series of paintings here. In ARCHIVE, there are automatic abstractions– created by painting one mark, then another stroke, then another, until a “scene” revealed itself. In the others, motifs of flames, flowers, and hands express our impermanence. The LANDSCAPES section has Corot looking over my shoulder as Central California and Napa take shape. CHRONICLE is comprised of observations and ideas about people and community, how and why things unfold. The semi abstract images in VAST LAND are more landscapes, but done with freedom of form, perspective, and color. And respect.
